In 2000 Ralph Coates, a resident of neighboring Turk's Cove and one of the few men of his generation to retain Newfoundland's traditional boat building skills began construction of our first boat project in December, 1999. Here in this photo Terry Kelly led a search for trees with just the right crooks and bends to form the boat's intricate timbers.
